[0001] LIGHTING DEVICE FOR VEHICLE PURPOSE OF THE INVENTION The present patent application relates to a vehicle lighting device incorporating significant innovations and advantages. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Inside the passenger compartment of a vehicle, lighting devices are used as an element of highlighting or signaling of a certain function or element. These lighting devices are usually visible even in their off state, and emit light with a simple geometric shape, such as a dot, a circle or a line. Therefore, it is desirable to have lighting devices that are not visible in their off state and at the same time are able to show complex geometric shapes, including words or symbols, as messages. All this without a significant energy expenditure, since the increasing number of electrical devices inside the vehicle gives rise to an increase in consumption. At present, there are various solutions relating to a vehicle lighting device which utilize an emitter or light guide. This lighting is used either directly, the own light guide then being the illuminated element and observed by the user, or indirectly, the light transmitted by the light guide is then observed because of the lighting of an additional element as a hubcap. In this second case, the light is transmitted by the air and its incidence occurs on the surface of said trim element. In the state of the art, one can also cite the document US8449161, which describes a decorative decorative coating insert for vehicles which has an opaque support structure. A reflective layer is disposed on the opaque support structure. A light tube is adjacent to the reflective layer and operatively connected to a light source. An optical layer is disposed in the light tube. A total internal reflection protective layer (RTI) is disposed on the light tube. A diffusion layer is disposed on the protective layer at RTI. A transmission decor layer is disposed on the diffusion layer. An optical layer creates a luminous effect on the visible decorative insert only when the light source is activated. A layer of the ambient medium is disposed on the transmission layer.
[0002] Thus, there is still a need for a vehicle lighting device which is invisible when it is in its off state and which, by design, has the ability to emit complex shapes through a vehicle. surface which, in appearance, is not a component of a luminous element.
[0003] DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION According to the present invention, this object is achieved by means of a vehicle lighting device according to the description which follows. Other advantages of the invention will appear in the detailed description below.
[0004] The present invention is encompassed in the field of ambient lighting systems inside a motor vehicle, in particular in the field of luminous hubcaps of interior parts of the passenger compartment of a vehicle. The hubcap consists, in particular, in a molding, for example for a door panel, which can be illuminated. This is achieved by the following construction: support structure, reflective plate, light guide with laser engraving, opaque mask with transparent decorations, and darkened cover. The user perceives a luminous figure by transferring light through the transparent areas of the opaque mask.
[0005] The light illuminates a hubcap to customize, which allows to obtain bright screen prints on the various interior finishes of the vehicle. This concept integrates into the decorative moldings that can be found on door panels, instrument panels or dashboards, central consoles, decorative pockets, etc., and allows to obtain serigraphs luminous on different types of surfaces, said screen printing being particularly visible on dark surfaces. An object of the invention is the lighting of hubcaps so that, when the light emitting unit is off, the user does not distinguish the existence of a lighting system and perceives a hubcap or a cabin trim of the same quality and appearance as those currently mounted in a motor vehicle, and so, conversely, when the light emitting unit is turned on, the user perceives a embellisher or molding with screen printing or illuminated figure. Thus, the vehicle lighting device according to the present invention comprises at least one light emitter connected to a light transmitting means, a partially translucent upper layer, the light transmitting means being essentially flat and comprising a region having at least one optical structure deviating light towards the partially translucent upper layer, and a substantially opaque mask having at least one substantially transparent zone superimposed on the region having at least one optical structure of the light transmitting means, between the transmitting means and the partially translucent upper layer said lighting device comprising a reflective lower layer adjacent to the light transmitting means and located on the opposite side of the substantially opaque mask having at least one substantially transparent area.
[0006] In this way, the following advantages are obtained: - Generation of an innovative indoor ambient light concept which increases the quality of the lighting of hubcaps on interior parts of the passenger compartment of the vehicle. - Possibility of customization in multiple finishes depending on the color of the light and the illuminated figure. - Possibility of making all types of illuminated engravings / serigraphs on different wheel covers and interior frames of the vehicle, whether new concepts or already existing elements. - Vehicle lighting device more compact and therefore easier to pack for transport than other ambient lighting systems. - Less dispersion of light and better definition of the illuminated figure due to the proximity between the light transmitting means, the mask and the upper layer. Advantageously, said reflective lower layer is essentially white and with a substantially matte finish. This results in a more intense illumination and at the same time reduces the unwanted light output. The optical structure in the light transmitting means refracts said light mainly to the upper layer and, to a lesser extent, to the lower layer. The fact of using a reflective lower layer of white color makes it possible to recover the refracted light towards the lower layer. In this way, more intense and clear lighting is obtained. With this configuration, it is possible to save a diffusion layer above the light guide or the mask. According to another aspect of the invention, said at least one light emitter is mounted on said reflective lower layer. Thus, the reflective plate is the own base plate for the electronic circuits of the lighting system. This results in a gain of components by unifying several functions on the same element. More concretely, the region having at least one optical structure is an etching on a surface of the light transmitting means adjacent to the essentially opaque mask having at least one essentially transparent zone. As previously mentioned, this essentially transparent area allows the light output through the pattern with a uniform light distribution. Thus, the essentially opaque mask blocks the light output on the rest of the surface. In a preferred embodiment, said substantially opaque mask is a sheet or a transparent plastic film to which a process of painting or black printing is applied to the whole of its surface, leaving without painting the figure that the user perceives through the upper layer, thus allowing the transfer of light through said figure. According to one variant, the essentially opaque mask is a dark-colored material on which a laser attenuation is applied so that the drawing is essentially transparent. According to one variant, the essentially opaque mask is a dark colored material in which the areas of the figure are hollow. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the transmitting means is made of high transparency PMMA. Said material has good light transmission properties. According to another aspect of the invention, the transmitting means is a substantially plane light guide and comprising on at least one of its side walls a plurality of notches. The said notches of the light guide are optical elements which refract the light towards the inside of the transmitting means. Thus, said light guide integrates at least one set of optics in the upper and / or lower part, which are a series of small nicks or ridges that refract and deflect the light towards the inside of the transmitter means.
[0007] It should be mentioned that the greater the distance from the transmitter, the larger the said notches, in order to compensate for the losses during the transmission of light and the refractions towards the inside of the transmitting means or the light guide.
[0008] This transmitting means, or panel-shaped light guide, has a shaded region located behind the area where the mask graphics are located through which the light is transmitted. Said nuanced region is preferably a laser etched rectangular region, or the transmitting means may exit the mold with the engraved rectangular region. More particularly, said etched area has dimensions substantially equal to the essentially transparent zone of the essentially opaque mask. Advantageously, the light guide of the transmitting means comprises an extension in order to better capture the light emitted by the transmitter, for example, an LED diode. More concretely, said at least one light emitter is connected to the light guide of the transmitting means at one end of the extension. According to another aspect of the invention, the upper layer comprises a substantially opaque portion and a translucent window of smoke finish superimposed on the essentially transparent area of the mask. Thus, the top layer is a darkened cover that gives the final finish to the molding. More particularly, said upper layer is preferably smoked and / or darkened in the same color as the opaque part of the mask which is below. Said upper layer is preferably PMMA high hardness to prevent possible scratches, and smoked translucent surface finish, so that the external appearance is dark and preferably shiny. In this way, when the LED is off, the top layer or embellisher behaves like an opaque element (which does not allow to see through it), and when the LED is lit, it lets the light through and makes the decoration visible. or the drawing of the mask. In addition, it acts as an element that covers and protects the internal components of the assembly.
[0009] Advantageously, the translucent window of smoked finish of the upper layer is essentially of the same color as the essentially opaque portion of the mask which is below. Concretely, the translucent window of smoked finish of the upper layer (or panel or trim molding) is a translucent black smoked material, which we see completely shiny black when the LEDs are off and which allows however to see the figure when they are lit. On the other hand, the substantially opaque portion of the top layer is essentially the same color as the translucent, smoked finish window of the top layer. In this way, the visual appearance of the translucent zone of the upper layer, when the light emitter is off, is substantially equal to that of the non-translucent outline of said upper layer. Said visual appearance of the translucent zone of the upper layer is obtained by adding the colors of the translucent smoke finish of the partially translucent zone and the black of the mask. Said darkened cover has a protective function and gives at the same time the final finish to the molding. Its color, preferably smoked and / or darkened, is the same as the opaque part of the mask below. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, it comprises a capacitive sensor responsible for starting and stopping the light emitter. Said capacitive sensor is preferably housed in the carcass, integrated on the electronic plate of the LEDs. The sensor operates to the touch, so that illumination is activated when the user passes their hand over the top layer, thus facilitating the operation of starting.
[0010] The accompanying drawings illustrate, by way of nonlimiting illustration, a vehicle lighting device designed according to the invention. Other features and advantages of said vehicle lighting device, object of the present invention, will become clear from the description of a preferred embodiment, but not exclusive, illustrated by way of non-limiting example in the drawings. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS Fig. 1 is an exploded perspective view of the vehicle lighting device according to the present invention; Fig. 2 is a plan and elevational view of a plurality of components of the unassembled vehicle lighting device according to the present invention; Fig. 3A is a view of the interior of a vehicle door, with the vehicle lighting device once mounted, according to the present invention; Figure 3B is a perspective view of the interior of a vehicle door, with the illustrated vehicle lighting device exploded, according to the present invention.
[0011] DESCRIPTION OF A PREFERRED EMBODIMENT In view of the figures mentioned and in accordance with the numbering adopted, it is possible to observe an example of a preferred embodiment of the invention, which comprises the parts and elements indicated and described in detail below. after. Thus, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 3B, the vehicle lighting device comprises at least one light emitter 1 connected to a light transmitting means 2, a partially translucent upper layer 4, the light transmitting means 2 being substantially planar and comprising a region 22 having at least one optical structure 22a deviating light towards the upper layer 4 partially translucent, and an essentially opaque mask 3 having at least one substantially transparent zone 31 superimposed on the region 22 having at least one optical structure 22a of the light transmitting means 2, between the transmitting means 2 and the partially translucent upper layer 4, said lighting device, said vehicle lighting device comprising a reflective lower layer 5 adjacent to the light transmitting means 2 and located opposite side of the essentially opaque mask 3 having at least one essential zone 31 so transparent. Said mask 3 is preferably a transparent piece on which is painted (for example, with ink) an opaque color the entire background of the decoration, leaving only transparent lines and forms of decorations, where take out the light. It can also be a directly opaque piece with hollows that form the shapes and lines of the decoration. More particularly, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, said reflective lower layer is essentially white and with a substantially matte finish, in order to recover the light that can escape through the lower plane of said light transmitting means 2. Thus, said light is reflected on the surface of said reflective lower layer, and again enters the light transmitting means 2, thereby improving the efficiency of this optical device.
[0012] More particularly, as shown in FIG. 2, said at least one light emitter 1 is mounted on said reflective lower layer, just like the electronics required for the light emitter. Said lower reflective layer 5 is a base plate of matt white color. Said reflective plate makes it possible to save a diffusion layer above the light transmitting means 2 or the mask 3. In a concrete embodiment, the at least one light emitter 1 is an LED. It should be mentioned, as shown in Figures 1 and 2, that electronic elements of said lighting device are mounted on the lower layer 5, in particular those corresponding to the power supply and the connection. According to another aspect of the invention, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 3B, the region 22 having at least one optical structure 22a is an etching on a surface of the light transmitting means 2 adjacent to the substantially opaque mask 3 having at least one zone 31 essentially transparent. The at least one light transmitting means 2 is at least one light guide. Said engraving, obtained by grinding or laser, for the refraction of light on the light guide, is preferably a rectangle and is located under the transparent areas of the mask 3. It should also be mentioned, as shown in FIG. that the majority of the light rays have a total reflection between the upper and lower plane of the light guide 2, but that a light scattering effect occurs in the etched area. Moreover, as shown in FIGS. 1, 2 and 3B, the transmitting means 2 is made of high transparency PMMA, concretely with a transparency value of between 95% and 100%, 100% being the ideal theoretical transparency and 0% being opacity. More particularly, said transmitting means 2 is made of translucent PMMA, commonly called methacrylate.
[0013] According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, as shown in FIG. 2, the transmitting means 2 is a substantially plane light guide and comprising on at least one of its lateral walls 21 a plurality of notches 23. upper and lower walls of the light guide 2 are not completely straight, but have small prisms or notches 23 which distribute the light over the entire surface of the light guide 2. In addition, as shown in Figures 1 and 2, the light guide of the transmitting means 2 comprises an extension 24. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the light guide is manufactured with a flat piece of transparent material, which has four light inputs at the four corners. The light source is LED side, that is to say, LEDs that do not emit light from above, but from the side (see Figure 2). More particularly, as shown in FIG. 2, said at least one light emitter 1 is connected to the light guide of the transmitting means 2 at one end of the extension 24. Said extension 24 has a square projection shape with a flat receiving surface of the light emitted by the at least one emitter 1 of light. According to another aspect of the invention, as shown in Figures 1 and 2, the upper layer 4 comprises a substantially opaque portion 42 and a translucent window of smoke finish superimposed on the substantially transparent zone 31 of the mask 3. The window 41 the partially translucent upper layer 4 is made of PMMA with a high hardness. The material is translucent black smoked and is completely shiny black when the LEDs are off, and allows to see the figure that the user perceives through the top layer when the LEDs are lit. More particularly, as shown in FIGS. 1, 3A and 3B, the translucent smoke-finish window 41 of the upper layer 4 is essentially of the same color as the essentially opaque portion of the mask 3. Thus, the upper layer 4 consists of an opaque panel 42 provided with a translucent black smoke window 41. Said upper layer 4 is also the element that covers and protects the internal components of the assembly and serves, moreover, hubcap element of the interior of the automobile. On the other hand, as shown in FIGS. 1, 3A and 3B, the essentially opaque portion 42 of the top layer 4 is essentially the same color as the translucent, smoked finish window 41 of the top layer 4. According to another aspect of the the invention, as shown in Figures 1 and 3B, the vehicle lighting device comprises a capacitive sensor 6 responsible for starting and stopping the emitter 1 of light. The particularity of using a capacitive sensor 6 is the absence of the need for direct contact or mechanical action to activate the system. Approaching the must from the surface of the upper layer 4, the capacitance of the capacitor underneath is modified and, in this way, the system is started or stopped.35 As shown in FIGS. 1 and 3B, the vehicle lighting device comprises a carcass 7 which, by means of clamps, fixes the assembly to the surrounding element and allows the rest of the components to be accommodated. According to a preferred embodiment, the surrounding element includes the support of the assembly to the door panel (and, in general, to the interior of the vehicle where the molding is located). The details, shapes, dimensions and accessory elements, as well as the components used for the implementation of said vehicle lighting device, can be advantageously replaced by other technically equivalent, without departing from the gasoline of the invention and the scope defined by the appended claims after the following list.
